Business Incubators
The Western University Research Park is home to the largest technology incubation capacity in Ontario and the largest biotechnology incubation capacity in Canada, including the award winning Stiller Centre at the London Campus and the Bowman Centre at the Sarnia-Lambton Campus, Canada’s largest cleantech incubator. Start-ups at the Research Park have raised over $150 million in venture capital and government funding over the past decade and have included some of Canada's fastest growing companies in digital media, life sciences, and cleantech. Successful spin-offs have the option of expanding into long-term space in our community or can continue to grow elsewhere within our Research Parks or our affiliated Technology Parks. Contact us at the Research Park to learn how our incubator teams can help support the launch and acceleration of your start-up venture.
The Stiller Centre

London's Stiller Centre for Technology Commercialization has established itself as one of Canada’s leading technology incubators, with a primary focus on commercializing ‘wet-science’, laboratory-based ventures.
"Wet-science" applies to a broad array of business applications including drug development, medical devices and imaging, cellular therapy, alternative energy, chemical processing and others.
The Stiller Centre provides a start-up friendly environment for the launch and early development of technology-based companies.
Stiller offers specialized facilities, flexible leasing arrangements, and a wide variety of innovative programs. These combine to lower the start-up hurdles for young technology companies.
Stiller is a collaborative effort of community and regional partners including the Province of Ontario, City of London, Western University and its Research Park, and Lawson Health Research Institute. Stiller works closely with the London Economic Development Corporation, TechAlliance of Southwestern Ontario, Small Business Centre among others.
Stiller measures its success by the creation of high-quality jobs, investment and relationships attracted and ultimately the business success of our clients.
The Stiller Centre’s success confirms the strategic wisdom of earlier decisions. The City’s 2002 investment of $5 million secured a further $5 million from the Province of Ontario. These funds enabled the construction of a state-of-the art facility that will benefit this region for decades to come.
The Stiller Centre has been named Technology Incubator of 2010 by the Canadian Association of Business Incubation (CABI)

Bowman Centre

The Bowman Centre for Technology Commercialization, located at the Sarnia-Lambton Campus of Western University Research Park, is Canada’s largest cleantech incubator, focused on industrial biotechnology, including biofuels, bioproducts, and bioprocesses.
The Bowman Centre provides client companies with access to over 50,000 sq ft of office, laboratories, and pilot plant facilities, including over $1 million of shared analytical and bioprocessing equipment. Extensive renovations were completed in 2010 with the assistance of $10 million from the Ontario Ministry of Research & Innovation and private sector funding.
The Bowman Centre team provides clients with technical and business analysis and supports economic development projects across the region and across Canada.
The Bowman Centre is also home to and receives funding from the Bioindustrial Innovation Centre, one of Canada’s national Centres of Excellence for Commercialization and Research, supported by the Government of Canada. A joint initiative between the Research Park and the industry-led Sustainable Chemistry Alliance, the focus of the Bioindustrial Innovation Centre is to help Canada become a globally recognized leader in taking sustainable feedstock, such as agricultural and forestry by-products and wastes, and turning these renewable resources into energy and value-added chemicals for use in applications ranging from construction to automotive parts.
The Bowman Centre is a collaborative initiative established and supported by the County of Lambton, the City of Sarnia, the University of Western Ontario, the Province of Ontario, and the Government of Canada, and works closely with the Sarnia-Lambton Economic Partnership, Lambton College and many others in the private and public sectors.
